I am an associate professor of sociology at Towson University and (as of July 2023) the assistant chair of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice. My research currently explores the consequences of being religiously unaffiliated for African Americans. Prior to attending UNC Chapel Hill I received an M.A. degree in sociology in 2008 and a B.A. in sociology in 2004 from East Carolina University in his hometown of Greenville, North Carolina.
