Educator. Researcher. Leader.
I am an associate professor of sociology at Towson University and (as of July 2023) the assistant chair of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice. My research explores the interplay of religion and biology across the life course with a focus on the relationship between religion and substance use. I received my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016 where I was Carolina Consortium on Human Development (CCHD) Predoctoral Fellow at the Center for Developmental Science. Prior to attending UNC Chapel Hill I received an M.A. degree in sociology in 2008 and a B.A. in sociology in 2004 from East Carolina University in his hometown of Greenville, North Carolina.
